As per an order issued from the CM’s office, “all further release/payments of departments and corporations/boards/authorities under the departments in respect of all the works undertaken by the previous government are to be stopped with immediate effect and all works which have not started are also to be stopped.”
According to CMO, the decision by Siddaramaiah is said to have been taken based on supposed complaints by legislators and people that several works sanctioned by the BJP lack sanctity and have no approvals.

“In some cases payments have been released without work orders and in other cases there have been no works sanctioned on ground but have figured only on paper. The CM has put all of them under review and will release them only on a case by case basis,” said one CMO official.
It is said a majority of the new works which have been sanctioned by the BJP but have now been put on hold are those which were cleared post the model code of conduct issued by the election commission.
