NEW DELHI: “I’m sorry, I didn’t bring my sandpaper with me,” said Rishi Sunak as the UK Prime Minister his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese giggled along, enjoying a fun Ashes banter on Tuesday.
The two leaders met at the Vilnius summit, an ongoing NATO summit, in the capital of Lithuania and exchanged cheeky blows, continuing with their Twitter banter after the controversial Jonny Bairstow dismissal during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s.
The hilarious series of events started after Albanese took out one of his papers, showing the current Ashes score-line and Sunak then took out one Ashes picture of his own as the two leaders had a laugh and got snapped by the photographers. Albanese then shared a picture of Bairstow standing outside of his crease which led to the controversial run out call to which Sunak responded with the sand-paper jibe.

As the two world leaders showed off their fun side, the moment was highly appreciated on social media.
England are currently hosting Australia in the Ashes series which the visitors lead 2-1.
Australia were 2-0 ahead but England won the Leeds Test to cut short the lead of the World Test champions. Pat Cummins and co. are aiming to become the first team since 2002 to win the Ashes in England.
