PUNE: Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan demanded that NCP chief Sharad Pawar “clarify his stand” after reports about a “secret meeting” with nephew and Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar at a real estate developer’s residence in Pune Saturday evening, reports Anurag Bende.

Chavan’s statement came after visuals of Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar leaving developer Atul Chordia’s Koregaon Park residence in separate vehicles. However, neither spoke to the media. Amid the secrecy shown by both leaders, Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) have sought a clarification.
“We do not know whether a meeting did take place between the two leaders, but visuals shown by a section of the media have raised doubts. If this has happened, it will not remain a secret for long… Either of them will have to come out with the truth,” Chavan said.

Chavan said the meeting is no more a family matter – ever since Ajit Pawar split from senior Pawar and joined the ruling alliance. “Allied partners must get official information about such meetings to clear confusions, if any,” he said.
