Dehradun Defence College building collapses in rain-hit Uttarakhand | Dehradun News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Amid incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand, the building of Dehradun Defence College in Uttarakhand’s Maldevta collapsed on Monday.

The building collapsed in a few seconds like a house of cards.

So far, no casualties have been reported.
Several districts of Uttarakhand have been receiving heavy rainfall leading to flood and waterlogging.
Severe waterlogging has also been reported in Dehradun as rainfall continues to lash the city.Portion of several houses and vehicles have also been submerged.
Whereas, a cloud burst in Pipalkoti in Chamoli district has led to severe damage.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a red alert and predicted heavy rainfall with lightning in six districts of the state for the next twenty-four hours.

It also forecast very heavy to extremely heavy rain/ thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spell is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.
