Anurag Kashyap reveals why Gadar 2 became a massive hit: I am happy that Gadar 2 and OMG 2 did not create rift or a divide between communities | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 has become one of the highest grossing films of all time. The Anil Sharma directorial has earned over Rs 480 crore within three weeks and it continues to mint money at the ticket window. Sharing his point of view on the film’s massive success, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap lauded the marketing strategy which created a nostalgia among the audience.
Anurag said that he hasn’t watched Gadar 2, OMG 2 or Dream Girl 2 because he has been busy all this while. However, he said that he will find time to see these movies. He also shared that he was lucky enough to see Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher’s Ghoomer in Melbourne.
Talking the reason behind Gadar 2 success, Anurag opined that there was a great marketing that was done, plus Gadar holds a lot of nostalgia. He mentioned that the film was released with Aamir Khan‘s Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai and it still managed to earn more than the combined collection of these two films.
He said that Gadar has had the largest footfalls and the marketing was so good that it has recreated the nostalgia for Gadar. “The entire marketing of Gadar 2 was Gadar 1,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
The filmmaker also expressed his happiness that the makers of Gadar 2 and OMG 2 did not use it as an opportunity to create rift or a divide between communities. “This is what happens with many films and opportunists today. It was responsible mainstream filmmaking. It did not create any kind of chaos, or any unnecessary animosity or hatred,” he concluded.
