Skipper Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues played crucial roles, with Lanning scoring a commanding 53 off 38 balls, and Jemimah contributing an entertaining 69 off 33 balls, propelling Delhi Capitals to a formidable total of 192 for 4.
Mumbai Indians’ chase fell short as they managed to score 163 for 8 despite efforts from Amanjot Kaur (42 off 27) and Hayley Matthews (29 off 17).
The defending champions faced their second defeat in five matches and their second against Delhi Capitals in WPL history.
This victory marked Delhi Capitals’ fourth consecutive win, helping them move two points clear of Mumbai with eight points from five matches.
Delhi Capitals solidified their position at the top, gaining redemption after suffering a last-ball loss to Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
Returning to action after missing the last game, Marizanne Kapp made an impact by taking two wickets in the powerplay.
The bowlers, including Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen, displayed a clinical performance to defend the imposing total.
Despite a sparse crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the home team put on a show, both with the bat and the ball. Lanning’s powerful innings, complemented by Jemimah’s late fireworks, set the stage for Delhi’s victory.
The bowlers then executed their plans effectively, sealing a convincing win for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League.
