Stock market today: BSE, NSE closed on account of Mahashivratri – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on March 8 on account of Mahashivratri.
As per the BSE website, trading activity in all segments including, Equity segment, Equity derivative segment, SLB segment and currency derivatives will remain shut for the day. Market trading will resume on March 11 at 9.15am.
Trading in the Commodity derivatives segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) segment will be suspended in the morning session, but will resume at 5.00pm for the evening session.
Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty edged higher to close at fresh record highs on Thursday, BSE Sensex rose 33.4 points, or 0.05%, to 74,119.39, while the Nifty index climbed 25.35 points, or 0.11%, to 22,499.4.
Tata chemicals, Tata Power, Tata Steel, HDFC, JSW steel were among the top gainers while the top losers were Mahindra & Mahindra, BPCL, Reliance Industries and ICICI.
Both the indices, Sensex and Nifty hit new record highs in early trade on Thursday, with Nifty surpassing 22,500 for the first time.
