It’s Official! Shahid Kapoor is the new ‘Ashwatthama’, the actor announces the movie to be directed by Sachin Ravi | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

It’s been a while since ‘Ashwatthama‘ has been announced. The film was meant to be directed by Aditya Dhar and Vicky Kaushal was supposed to play the titular role. However, several glitches kept coming in the film’s making! From producers backing out of the project to Allu Arjun replacing Vicky Kaushal -there were several rumours. However, recently, in February, during the trailer launch of ‘Article 370’, Aditya had said that the project is shelved.
He had said, “We have put that on the back burner right now.I’ll be honest, the kind of vision we all had for that, it was too big to work for Indian cinema. The kind of VFX quality we were looking at, nobody has even strived for it here. Until the technology becomes affordable or cinema halls increase, we’ll have to wait.”

And now here’s some news! The film is being made with Shahid Kapoor in the lead and it’s not going to be directed by Aditya Dhar. Shahid announced the film today which is called ‘Aswatthama: The Saga Continues’ and it’s directed by Sachin Ravi. The film will be a Pan-Indian film releasing in five languages – Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
The project will be backed by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. Rumours have been rife for a while that Shahid has signed a film with Jackky as he was also present at his wedding with Rakul Preet Singh in Goa.
Shahid was last seen in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ and is currently shooting for ‘Deva‘.
