‘Shoddy probe’, says father of kids murdered in Budaun | Bareilly News – Times of India
BAREILLY: The man whose two minor sons were killed by a salon owner in Budaun last Tuesdat set his bike on fire and threatened to immolate himself on Sunday, demanding answers to why his children were killed and protesting “shoddy police investigation” in the case.
Vinod Kumar, a 40-year-old contractor, distraught by the loss of his children and the lack of clarity about the motive behind the crime, said, “I am not concerned with the encounter of the accused or the arrest of the accomplice. All I want to know is why were my children killed.”
Officials claimed they responded swiftly and assured Kumar that a thorough investigation was in progress.
The children’s grandmother expressed the agony of facing a festive season without her beloved grandchildren. “We had bought new clothes for our children for Holi. These clothes are in front of our eyes, but the children are missing. How do we continue to live with such pain?” she said.
SHO Gaurav Vishnoi refuted Kumar attempting self-immolation, attributing his actions to a “severe depression”. Talking to TOI, Vishnoi said, “He has been profoundly impacted by the incident, but the rumours that he attempted self-immolation are wrong. We are committed to unravelling the mystery behind the incident and are scouring the mosques and shrines frequented by the perpetrator, Sajid.”
Sajid, who owned a salon in the victims’ locality for seven years, had unleashed a brutal attack on three brothers-Ayush (12), Honey (8), and Piyush (10)-with a knife, claiming the lives of Ayush and Honey. He was subsequently killed in a police encounter, while his brother Javed, also implicated in the crime, awaits judicial proceedings after his arrest.
