PATNA: Facing flak over her alleged statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would end up “in jail” if the INDIA bloc comes to power, RJD‘s Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti on Friday said her remarks were “taken out of context”.
Misa, the RJD candidate from Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency, said her remarks were focused on the Supreme Court’s ruling on electoral bonds and the need for a thorough investigation into the matter if the INDIA bloc, of which RJD is part, comes to power after the Lok Sabha polls.
“I never said anything about the PM. The media played a distorted clip instead of telecasting my full comment. It is BJP’s agenda,” Misa, the eldest daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad, alleged.
Misa, who will try her luck from the Patliputra seat for third consecutive time, said the BJP leaders were avoiding debate on real issues like unemployment, price rise and problems faced by the farmers. Misa lost the Lok Sabha polls to BJP’s Ram Kripal Yadav twice in 2014 and 2019.
“Does the PM Modi talk in his election rallies about unemployment, inflation, farmers and other promises made by the BJP earlier?” she asked.
Reacting to the backlash from senior BJP leaders, including former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who assailed her alleged statement that had gone viral on Thursday, Bharti reiterated that she never directly mentioned the PM in her statement.
