NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders registered a commanding victory over Delhi Capitals in an Indian Premier League match at the Eden Gardens on Monday, propelled by the explosive batting of Phil Salt.
As the dust settled on the scintillating encounter, it was former KKR skipper and current mentor Gautam Gambhir‘s social media post that encapsulated the essence of the triumph.
“Winning Kolkata style, with just the right amount of ‘Salt’,” Gambhir’s post reverberated on X, serving as a fitting tribute to Salt’s sensational knock and its pivotal role in KKR’s triumph.

Phil Salt’s blitzkrieg innings of 68 off just 33 balls left the Delhi Capitals reeling, as the English opener showcased his batting prowess with a flurry of boundaries and towering sixes.
Gambhir’s post, resonating with KKR fans worldwide, encapsulated the essence of Salt’s impact, likening it to the quintessential Kolkata style – a blend of audacity, flair, and tenacity.

The significance of Gambhir’s tweet was further magnified as Salt’s heroics not only secured a vital victory for KKR but also etched his name in the annals of

IPL history. Surpassing Sourav Ganguly‘s long standing record, 331 runs in seven innings in 2010, at the Eden Gardens, Salt’s tally of 344 runs in just six innings showcased his dominance at the historic venue, eclipsing the achievements of legends who had graced the turf before him.
Salt’s breathtaking innings, which included five towering sixes and seven exquisite boundaries, underscored his status as one of the most potent batting forces in the IPL. Coupled with captain Shreyas Iyer‘s composed unbeaten knock, KKR’s chase of the 154-run target was executed with precision, culminating in a resounding victory.
