Dubbed the ‘Block Out’ campaign, this movement seeks to boycott popular artists who have chosen not to use their influential platforms to raise awareness about the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Initiated by TikTok users and gaining traction across various social media platforms, the ‘Block Out 2024’ campaign places accountability on celebrities for their silence amidst the Gaza crisis.The post pointed that not just the BTS label should be blocked, but the personal accounts of the seven members – Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook should also be blocked and unfollowed.

Notably, a list circulating on Instagram identifies several high-profile figures, including BTS, as targets for the boycott. Alongside BTS, names like Selena Gomez, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Taylor Swift, Shakira, Harry Styles, Sydney Sweeney, and others have also been singled out. Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Shah Rukh Khan have also been named.
The inclusion of BTS in this list has sparked significant controversy, particularly among the K-pop fandom. While BTS has previously faced calls for boycotts due to their agency’s association with Scooter Braun, the CEO of HYBE America, and his statements on Palestine, fans were quick to rally in defense of the group.
