3 dead in fire at food processing unit in Delhi’s Narela | Delhi News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: At least three people were killed and six others suffered injures after a fire broke out in a factory in the Narela Industrial Area on Saturday morning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that raw moong beans were being roasted on gas burners when a gas leak from one of the pipelines caused a fire. This fire led to the overheating of the compressor, resulting in an explosion.
A case is being registered under appropriate sections and investigation being taken up, according to Delhi Police.
Fourteen fire tenders were pressed into service and the dousing operation was still underway, a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said around 8.30 am.
He said nine people were rescued from inside the building and were shifted to SHRC Hospital.
Three of them — Shyam (24), Ram Singh (30) and Beerpal (42) — were declared dead, while others were under treatment, the police officer further added.
