NEW DELHI: India’s cricket team, featuring stars such as skipper Rohit Sharma and ace batsman Virat Kohli, will begin their training on Monday for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting on August 2.
While India’s T20I team led by Suryakumar Yadav will play the final T20I on Tuesday in Pallekele, Rohit, Kohli, and others, including newcomer Harshit Rana, are set to train in Colombo after arriving on Sunday.
Rohit, Virat and Kuldeep Yadav are returning to action nearly a month after their crucial roles in India’s victory at the T20 World Cup held in the Americas, marking India’s second triumph in the tournament. The ODI series against Sri Lanka will also see the return of Shreyas Iyer to the national squad. Iyer last participated in a limited-overs match for India against South Africa in December 2023.
Joining the team is Delhi all-rounder Harshit Rana, who was part of the IPL-winning Kolkata Knight Riders squad earlier this year.

According to a PTI report, the players will train under the supervision of India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Colombo.
The three ODIs will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The first match is set for August 2, with the second and third matches scheduled for August 4 and 7, respectively.
