Raveena Tandon‘s daughter, Rasha Thadani, made her Bollywood debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s Azaad, a historical drama. Unlike most debutants, she chose a more intense role rather than a glamorous one. When asked about a glamorous launch like Student of the Year, Rasha openly shared her thoughts on the matter.
Recently, Rasha joined her Azaad co-star Aaman Devgan on Instant Bollywood’s podcast, where the host asked if they would have wanted Karan Johar’s Student of the Year to be their first film. Rasha immediately replied, ‘No.’

Rasha mentioned that Student of the Year is a fun movie, while Aaman shared that he was just 12 when the film released. He recalled how his school went wild with excitement over the movie, with everyone expressing their admiration for the stars—Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Alia Bhatt.

He added that they grew up watching that type of cinema, but for them, it was more about finding a character they could portray well. He emphasized that they didn’t specifically want their debut film to follow that particular style or be launched in that way.
Following Aaman’s explanation, Rasha mentioned that Student of the Year made everyone have crushes on the stars, calling it a “wow” moment. She praised Alia’s performance as Shanaya, describing her as the “it” girl in the film. Rasha added that for her own debut, she preferred not to play a similar role.
The host was surprised by Rasha’s response and asked why she felt that way. Rasha explained that while someone could always play the “it” girl, she wanted her first film to reflect her true age and personality. She felt fortunate that Gattu sir gave her the opportunity to play a character like Janaki, who is quite similar to her.
