A group of people trespassed the Indian Consulate in Seattle after which the authorities were compelled to take action against the intruders, consulate said on Friday (Indian time).
In a post on X, the consulate said that the intruders refused to leave the premises even after repeated requests and engaged in aggressive and threatening behaviour with their staff members.
“Today, the Consulate was forced to deal with a law and order situation arising from the unauthorized entry by certain individuals into the Consulate premises after office hours. Despite repeated requests, these individuals refused to leave the Consulate premises and engaged in aggressive and threatening behaviour with the Consulate staff,” the consulate posted.

The consulate also stated that they had to seek assistance from local authorities and would pursue action against the trespassers.
As Consulate reported about the incident on X, several netizens tried to connect the dots between the trespassing and former Seattle City Council member and Indian-American politician Kshama Sawant, who two hours before the reports came regarding this had demonstrated earlier.

Sawant shared on X that whilst her husband received an emergency visa due to her mother’s illness, her application was denied, with officials stating her name appeared on a ‘reject list’ without providing further clarification.
She protested outside the Indian consulate in Seattle following visa rejections, whilst her husband received an emergency visa for travel to India.

“Workers Strike Back members & I are still at Seattle Indian Consulate, doing peaceful civil disobedience, demanding explanation why my visa was rejected 3 times. If people & media can come to support us, please come now: 3101, Western Avenue, Suite 700.”

Sawant, who openly opposes the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), considers the visa denial politically driven.
