AIADMK Party: Edappadi K. Palaniswami says traitors who acted as DMK ‘B’ team, are exposed today | Chennai News – Times of India
CHENNAI/MADURAI: Soon after the Supreme Courtacknowledged his leadership, AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday said the court outcome had proven late chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s statement that the party would remain for centuries even after her.
Speaking at the wedding of former revenue minister RB Udhayakumar’s daughter Priyadarshini and others at T Kunnathur in Madurai district, the former chief minister said he had spent a sleepless night and travelled to Madurai with anticipation of the Supreme Court verdict. And it turned out that the good news came on the wedding day as an auspicious sign. “Certain traitors, who intended to destroy the AIADMK and acted as the ‘B’ team of the DMK, are exposed today,” EPS said.
Udhayakumar turned his daughter’s wedding into a community event as 50 more couples married at the event. EPS said the wedding turned out to be a special one for all the couples as they would remember it the day the AIADMK won and got united, said Palanisami.
He said the cadre and office-bearers had undergone huge sufferings in the last seven months and the rivals had termed that there was no future for the party that splintered into four groups. “The verdicts of the high court and apex court ended it. The AIADMK is led by the cadre today,” EPS said.
Palaniswami, who was earlier taken to a temple of MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa built by Udhayakumar at T Kunnathur, said there was a divine power in the temple and he beseeched her intervention and the court verdict turned out favourable.
At the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai, former minister and a key associate of EPS D Jayakumar said the apex court affirming the decision of the division bench of the Madras high court on Palaniswami leadership was historic.
“EPS and the party will embrace anyone except OPS, VK Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran,” he told reporters.
The headquarters burst into celebrations soon after the verdict was out, with functionaries pouring milk on the photograph of Palaniswami, distributing sweets and bursting crackers.
The headquarters has been decked up for the birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa on Friday.
