KANPUR: A 21-year-old college student walking back home after her BA exam was shot dead Monday in UP’s Jalaun by two motorcycle-borne miscreants, one of them allegedly her “ex-boyfriend”, in a daylight strike barely two days after the murders of Atiq Ahmed and his brother in full public view while in police custody.
Footage of Monday’s attack in Ait town, showing the student lying in the middle of the road in a pool of blood with a firearm by her side, went viral. Former CM and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted: “BJP government = crime.”

Police identified the vitim as Roshni, a first-year student. “The two miscreants, who had their faces covered, accosted her, one of them shot her in the head at point-blank range after an argument, and fled,” Jalaun SP Iraj Raja said.
One Raj Ahirwar was arrested on a complaint from Roshni’s parents. “Ahirwar is being questioned and searches are on to arrest his aide. It seems Ahirwar and the student were having an affair, which had turned sour,” the SP said.
