Govinda’s deleted post condemning Gurugram violence goes viral; Twitterati SLAM Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma for supporting BLM and not national issues | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

According to a screenshot being shared on Twitter, it seems like the actor, on Wednesday evening, took to the micro-blogging site to call for an end to the violence and reiterated ‘hum democracy hai, autocracy nahi’. Sharing a video of the violence in Gurugram, he wrote, “What have we come down to? Shame on the people who call themselves Hindus and do such things. Aman aur shanti banaye, hum democracy hai, autocracy nahi!”
The video in question showed a mob stealing coolers from a shop after setting it ablaze.
The alleged screenshot of the actor’s post soon went viral online, attracting the wrath of social media trolls. According to a Twitter post, the actor then soon de-activated his handle, but that didn’t stop a few from sharing the screenshot and lauding him for speaking up against the violence in the country.
Govinda is now only the third Bollywood actor to speak up about the issue. Dharmendra and Sonu Sood made headlines early this week when they expressed their sorrow and concern over the recent reports of violence. Singer Vishal Dadlani has also been vocal about the violence erupting in different parts of the country.
Reacting to the posts by the celebrities, many internet users slammed Bollywood actors for staying mum on the issue. “Desh jal raha hai!! Lekin In Bollywood walon ko koi pharak nahin padta. Shame on you,” read a tweet.
Others even took jibes at actors like Priyanka Chopra, Disha Patani, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, and Anushka Sharma, among others, stating that they took to social media to join the Black Lives Matter movement demanding justice for George Floyd, and even raised their voice against the death of an elephant, but have not reacted to the national issues.
“@priyankachopra you “couldn’t breathe” according to your Insta post during #BLM protests, what happened now?” asked a social media user.
Another said, “Bollywood folks were taking the knee for BLM protests when there are much worse caste and religious discrimination happening in India.”
“Has the Bollywood brigade commented yet on this? They mourned the elephant death in Kerala and were vocal on #BLM,” said another.
