Anam Faruqi Talks About Her Book “Healthcare Management”

About the Author:

Anam Faruqi obtained the degree of Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Aligarh College of Engineering and Technology. She did Masters in Business Administration with specialization in Hospital Administration from Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. She is the author of the book entitled ‘Design and Analysis of Algorithms’ published by CBS Publishers & Distributors Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. She has written five articles which have been published in various Engineering and Management Journals. The core concept of each article is the fusion of technology and healthcare. She has done five online courses through edX (two from Harvard University and other three from Doane University). Also, she has attended several webinars organised by ICFAI Group, Hyderabad.

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A:Three persons are my biggest inspirations. My grandfather Prof. Asloob Ahmad Ansari who was an eminent critic and scholar of English and Urdu Literature and author of more than three dozen books, my father Prof. Nafis Ahmad Faruqi who is a nationally renowned author of Anatomy books and my mother Prof. Roshan Ara who has written several books on Western Philosophy.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: It is a text book written for students pursuing hospital management courses as well as those appearing for competitive exams. In this book, special focus is given to Indian Healthcare System in each chapter. International healthcare systems, strategic perspectives of healthcare leadership, quality and safety issues, healthcare technological advancements and patient experience management are discussed in it. MCQs are also provided at the end of each chapter.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Information Or Ideas For Your Books?

A: I had composed my first poem when I was 4 and a half years old. I had written many poems in my childhood and finally got them published in 2012 under the title ‘Nawa-e-Sarosh’. After becoming computer engineer, I had developed interest in algorithms. In my college days, I had seen many students facing problems in understanding the working of algorithms. This had given me an idea of writing a book on algorithms and presenting them in the simplest form by giving a step wise explanation of each algorithm. My second publication ‘Design and Analysis of Algorithms’ came in 2016. It was published by CBS Publishers and Distributors, New Delhi. After completing MBA in hospital administration, I had decided to explore the role of technology in healthcare. This had led to write my third book entitled ‘Healthcare Management (First Edition)’. It was published by OrangeBooks Publication, Chhattisgarh in 2021.

Q: What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A:Before writing a manuscript you should be clear about the purpose of writing. Always try to present the ideas in a simple form. The manuscript must be comprehensive and free from ambiguity.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A:When I write a book and get it published, it gives me intellectual satisfaction. When the book receives encouraging response from its readers, it gives me a sense of achievement. This is what success means to me.

Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?

A: If you have a passion of becoming an author, always give yourself a chance. Your skills will improve with time.
