United named the 39-year-old Portuguese coach Amorim as the man to lead the Premier League side following the dismissal of former gaffer Erik ten Hag.
United decided to part ways with Dutchman ten Hag following their poor start to the season that left the Red Devils reeling at 14th place in the league table at the end of 9 game weeks.
The 54-year-old Dutchman had clinched the EFL Cup and the FA Cup in his previous two campaigns at the helm of the Mancunian side, but a poor start to the ongoing campaign with just 3 wins in the English domestic season cost him his job following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Ham.

United reportedly paid ten Hag a sum close to the £17.5 million mark to have his remaining tenure terminated, while also paying Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon close to £11 million to buy out Amorim’s contract with the capital city club.
Amorim, who led Sporting to two titles in the last four years with the Lisbon-based team, will be tasked with the daunting duty of restoring United back to its glory days.
The Red Devils are yet to win the Premier League title following the retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson back in the year 2013 and have run through multiple managers since the Scot stepped down to try and replicate his success but to no avail.
