So far this season, Salah has scored 32 goals in just 45 appearances in all competitions – 27 of which have come in the Premier League, making him the division’s leading marksman.
The Egyptian’s brilliance has also resulted in 22 assists for his teammates so far this season.
Salah will extend an eight-year stay at Anfield into the future and continue to help Arne Slot’s team grow and challenge for more silverware in the upcoming year.
Liverpool announced the news via social media, with an official announcement and a short video where Salah himself spoke on his decision to stay.
“It’s great to be here for another two years. I’m happy to sign a new contract,” Salah stated.
“I’m very excited. We have a great team. I signed because I believe we have a chance to win more trophies and I’ll get to enjoy my football,” he added.
“If I didn’t believe so, then I wouldn’t have signed. Especially with the support of the fans, I certainly believe we can win many trophies in the coming years.”
Salah also reiterated his hunger to lift the coveted Premier League trophy yet again, after having last won it back in the delayed 2019/20 COVID season, when Jurgen Klopp’s side amassed 99 points en route to the title, ending a 30-year wait for a top-flight title in the process.
“I said at the beginning of the season that I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else. I want it so bad, and the fans deserve it,” said a spirited Salah.
“The last time we won it, we couldn’t celebrate much. Hopefully this time, we can make it happen.
“There’s still 7 games to go (left in the season) and it’s not going to be easy at all, since Arsenal are also catching up. We just have to give it our all and hopefully, we can win it.”
