Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: I’ve lived by the sea all my life and have never taken its presence for granted. One day, I found myself imagining how lovely it would be to have a bookshop nestled by the shore. That simple thought became the spark behind Puttakappulu.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: Puttakappulu is a gentle, feel-good read about Raman Pillai and his charming seaside bookshop—a place where lives intertwine as effortlessly as the stories resting on its shelves. There’s something effervescent about Puttakappulu, a quiet magic that keeps drawing you in.

Q: Which Of Your Books Were The Most Enjoyable To Write?

A: Puttakappulu, my third book after Red and The Dervish, has been the most joyful writing experience so far. I allowed the characters to guide the story, keeping the narrative simple and organic. I became so immersed in their world that finishing the book felt like saying goodbye to a part of myself.

Q: Tell Us About Your First Published Book? What Was The Journey Like?

A: Red was my first published book, born out of a writing experiment that gradually grew into a complete work. OrangeBooks Publication brought it to life, and seeing it in print was a dream come true. I’ve grown so much since then—learning, evolving, and always trying to refine my voice. But the journey is far from over.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Greatest Ideas For Writing?

A: Life itself is my biggest source of inspiration—small moments, everyday scenes, passing thoughts. From there, it’s the imagination that takes over, shaping something ordinary into something memorable.

Q: What Advice Would You Give To Aspiring Authors?

A: Writing comes with great responsibility—right until the last page, it’s your vision that carries the story through. Don’t let go of your dream. If it’s not coming together now, it will someday. Just keep writing.
