Paris Saint-Germain made history, emphatically defeating Inter Milan 5-0 at the Allianz Arena in Munich to claim their first Champions League trophy. Luis Enrique’s side delivered a masterclass, leaving Inter thoroughly outclassed.

Hakimi’s demoralising opening goal set the tone, followed by a superb brace from Doue. Further goals from Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu sealed Inter’s fate in a resounding victory for the Parisians.

PSG, appearing in only their second Champions League final after losing to Bayern Munich in 2020, dominated the encounter to finally capture the elusive trophy.

For manager Luis Enrique, this triumph adds another chapter to his remarkable career, marked by overcoming early setbacks, including his release from Real Madrid as a youngster, to achieve remarkable success, including the 2015 treble with Barcelona, the club where he excelled as both a player and a coach.

This match, the first competitive meeting between Inter and PSG, saw the Parisians seize control from the outset. Inter’s strategy of absorbing PSG’s relentless pressure proved costly.

PSG captain Achraf Hakimi, formerly of Inter, opened the scoring in the 12th minute. His simple tap-in, following a brilliant through ball from Vitinha, was a poignant moment for Inter fans.

PSG continued their relentless attack, easily breaching Inter’s defence. A swift counterattack, initiated by Ousmane Dembélé, resulted in a delightful cross to Désiré Doue, whose deflected shot off Di Marco made it 2-0.

Inter, fortunate to reach half-time only two goals down, struggled to contain PSG’s potent attack.

The second half offered no respite for Inter. Despite Inzaghi’s frantic substitutions and attempts to change the game, their long-ball tactics proved ineffective. Inzaghi’s frustration earned him a yellow card for his behaviour on the touchline.

In the 63rd minute, Doue secured his second goal, converting a backheel pass from Dembélé. His subsequent substitution suggested Enrique might have been easing up on the beleaguered Italians.

However, Inter’s woes continued. A simple through-ball from Mendes found Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who finished clinically to make it 4-0, demonstrating the counter-attacking prowess Inter lacked.

Barcola’s mesmerising solo run in the 80th minute almost resulted in another goal, but his shot went wide. Substitute Senny Mayulu, however, showed no such mercy, finishing emphatically from Barcola’s pass to complete the 5-0 rout.

Thus, Luis Enrique and his PSG side celebrated their first UEFA Champions League title in style, a historic and dominant performance.
