In a tragic incident, a woman died after falling from the 13th floor of an under-construction building in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara, while allegedly filming an Instagram reel.
The woman, identified as Nandini, had gone to the building with a group of friends for a late-night party, according to police. After having some drinks. a dispute reportedly broke out between the group over a relationship issue.
The woman went to the terrace after the heated exchange to shoot what police described as a “sad reel” and accidentally fell into the lift shaft space, according to a report by India Today. After she fell, her friends reportedly fled the spot.
“Yes, they were partying in the building. They later went to the terrace to record reels, and she slipped and fell to her death. As of now, we are unaware if a relationship issue led to this. Everything is under investigation. A case has been registered under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR),” said DCP (South East) Fatima.
According to other reports, Nandini’s body was discovered by a passerby. CCTV footage helped the police trace one of the women who accompanied Nandini, who then revealed the sequence of events during questioning.
In a separate incident earlier, a young woman living in Bengaluru’s outskirts was sexually harassed and physically attacked by a group of five men allegedly under the influence of cannabis. Police have yet to identify the assailants or make any arrest in the case.
According to the police, the woman had recently moved to the Renuka Yellamma area with her brother. On the day of the attack, she was alone while going to a local shop to buy groceries. The group reportedly blocked her way on the road and behaved inappropriately towards her, News18 Kannada reported.
