Bengaluru News: Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine how the explosive materials ended up near the convoy route.
Six police personnel have been suspended in connection with the recovery of gelatin sticks near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy route during his Bengaluru visit earlier this month.
The explosive materials were found near an ashram close to Kaggalipura, around three kilometres from the main venue where the Prime Minister was scheduled to attend a programme on May 10. The gelatin sticks were detected during routine security sanitisation checks carried out ahead of his arrival.
The incident triggered a security scare and an intensive police probe, raising concerns over a possible lapse in the security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s visit to the Art of Living centre.
Suspension orders were issued by the Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru South (Ramanagara), pending the completion of an inquiry. The suspended personnel will remain off duty until the inquiry concludes.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine how the explosive materials ended up near the convoy route and whether there was any deliberate attempt to compromise the security arrangements.
