The domestic equity markets opened higher on Thursday, tracking selective buying in IT stocks even as global cues remained mixed amid rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia. At around 9:16 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 178 points, or 0.23%, higher at 77,363.44, while the Nifty 50 gained 55.8 points, or 0.23%, to 24,134.30.
The broader market also remained in the green, with the Nifty Midcap 100 rising 0.25% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 advancing 0.38%. India VIX declined 1.13%, indicating relatively stable market sentiment.
