How A Hyderabad Hospital Is Using AI To Personalise Diabetes Care With Its RRR Approach

The hospital’s ‘Reversal, Remission, Restoration’ approach combines modern medicine, Ayurveda and digital health technologies
The hospital’s programme combines allopathic medicine with Ayurveda and Panchakarma, along with what it calls its 3F Protocol — low-GI nutrition, structured exercise and medically supervised fasting.
A Hyderabad-based hospital has received a national award for using AI and digital health tools as part of a personalised approach to treating diabetes and other metabolic conditions.
Mayura Hospitals was awarded the Digital Health Innovation Award at the National AYUSH Festival 2026, or Ayur Mahotsava, held in Noida from September 25 to 27. The event was organised by the Ayur Vaidya Foundation with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and in association with the AYUSH Export Promotion Council.
The recognition is linked to the hospital’s “Reversal, Remission, Restoration” (RRR) approach, which combines modern medicine, Ayurveda and digital health technologies. The model brings together information such as DNA data, blood biomarkers, wearable-device readings, personal and family medical history, diet and lifestyle, along with an Ayurvedic assessment of Prakruthi, to develop individualised treatment plans.
According to Mayura, its AI-based system analyses these different data points to help doctors monitor patients and refine their treatment plans. The hospital says the final clinical decisions remain with its medical teams.
What Is The RRR Approach?
The hospital describes RRR as a three-stage approach — Reversal, Remission and Restoration.
The first stage focuses on improving markers such as blood sugar, insulin resistance, weight and blood pressure through a structured programme. The second focuses on maintaining healthier blood sugar levels with reduced dependence on glucose-lowering medication where medically appropriate. The third focuses on longer-term metabolic health and reducing the risk of complications.
Mayura says the programme combines allopathic medicine with Ayurveda and Panchakarma, along with what it calls its 3F Protocol — low-GI nutrition, structured exercise and medically supervised fasting. The treatment is overseen by a multidisciplinary team of allopathy and Ayurveda doctors.
How AI And Wearables Are Used
The hospital’s model uses multiple sources of patient information rather than relying only on periodic blood-test results. These include genetic information, laboratory biomarkers, heart rate and sleep data from wearable devices, family and personal medical history, diet and lifestyle information, and Ayurvedic constitution assessments.
Its technology platform is designed to combine these data points and provide doctors with insights for ongoing patient monitoring. Mayura also uses its NadiIQ Smart Ring to track health indicators such as heart rate, sleep and physical activity.
Dr Hanu Yedluri said the approach was developed in response to the large diabetes burden in India. Citing ICMR-INDIAB 2023 estimates, he said around 101 million Indians have diabetes and another 136 million have prediabetes.
He argued that managing such a large patient population requires looking beyond individual test results and considering factors including genetics, blood markers, sleep, activity, diet and family history.

Mayura Hospitals received the Digital Health Innovation Award at the National AYUSH Festival 2026, also known as Ayur Mahotsava, held in Noida from September 25 to 27.
The RRR approach stands for Reversal, Remission, and Restoration. It is a three-stage framework combining allopathic medicine, Ayurveda, Panchakarma, and the 3F Protocol involving low-GI nutrition, structured exercise, and medically supervised fasting to improve metabolic health and reduce diabetes complications.
The hospital’s AI-based system analyzes diverse data points such as DNA data, blood biomarkers, wearable-device metrics from tools like the NadiIQ Smart Ring, and Ayurvedic Prakruthi assessments to give doctors ongoing patient monitoring insights. However, all final clinical decisions are made by the medical teams.
