‘Every Mother And Sister Is The Face Of Satkar Yojna’: Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday described the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna as a social initiative aimed at strengthening women’s dignity, self-respect and financial autonomy.
Mann said every mother and sister in Punjab is a “brand ambassador” of the scheme and thanked women across the state for making the initiative a success.
“Every mother and sister of Punjab is the brand ambassador of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. This scheme is a social revolution which will enhance the self-confidence, self-respect and dignity of our mothers and daughters,” he said.
₹3,824.87 Crore Transferred To Women’s Accounts
According to the Chief Minister, more than 75 lakh women have registered under the scheme so far, while ₹3,824.87 crore has been transferred directly into their bank accounts as Satkar Rashi.
Mann said the government aims to extend the scheme to one crore women, adding that around 97% of women in Punjab are eligible to receive its benefits.
He said the state government has allocated ₹9,300 crore in the budget for the scheme and that the financial assistance is being transferred directly to beneficiaries.
Assistance Of ₹1,000 And ₹1,500
Mann said eligible women above the age of 18 are receiving notifications on their mobile phones regarding the financial assistance. Under the scheme, women are being provided ₹1,000, while eligible SC women receive ₹1,500, he said.
The Chief Minister urged eligible women who have not yet registered to enrol and avail themselves of the scheme.
He also stressed that the assistance was intended to provide women with greater financial independence and dignity rather than simply increasing their income.
CM Meets Beneficiary Gurmail Kaur
The occasion also saw an emotional interaction between Mann and Gurmail Kaur, also known as Melo, a beneficiary from Adampura village who gained attention on social media after the launch of the scheme.
Gurmail Kaur met the Chief Minister and hugged him before blessing him. Mann also sought her blessings and felicitated her with gifts.
Sharing a video of the meeting, Mann said the interaction had brought “peace” to his soul and expressed his wish that Waheguru always keep a smile on her face.
He also thanked the women of Punjab for their support and said he would remain committed to serving the state.
‘No Eligible Woman Will Be Deprived’
Mann said the government was committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the scheme’s benefits.
“As long as I am holding the charge of the office, no eligible woman will be deprived of the benefits of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna,” he said.
The Chief Minister also linked women’s financial autonomy with household welfare, gender equity and their participation in social and economic decision-making.
