A self-styled vigilante group in the UK has sparked outrage after confronting Indian students at a public park, questioning why they came to England and ordering them to leave with a warning: “Do not be seen here again.”
The incident took place at Meriden Park in the West Midlands during a late-night patrol by the Chelmsley Wood Patriots, who claimed they were protecting women and children.
According to Metro, a video of the confrontation was later deleted from the group’s social media account but continued to circulate online.
In the footage, a member of the group asks one student, “What made you come to England?” The student explains that they usually stayed in Birmingham and had moved to the area that day. Another says he had come to England to pursue a master’s degree and had been living there for two years.
One of the group members then warns them: “What you need to do is stay away from a children’s park. Do not come round here again. Do not be seen here again. This is your final warning.”
Group Claims It Was Protecting Families
The group later claimed on Facebook that its members approached the men because they were in the park at night and allegedly gave different explanations for their presence. It argued that parks should be reserved for children and families.
However, local activists accused the group of targeting the students because of their ethnicity.
Former councillor and community activist Shesh Sheshabhatter told BirminghamLive that the students had done nothing wrong and had every right to meet and walk outdoors.
“We can see no reason they were targeted other than the colour of their skin,” he said.
Police Distance Themselves From Group
Solihull Police said they were aware of the group and the footage. Inspector Jenny Willetts stressed that stop-and-search powers belonged to police officers acting under specific legal provisions.
“We do not endorse, condone or encourage its activities and do not work with its members,” she said, adding that appropriate action would be taken when a crime was reported.
Incident Sparks Debate Among Indians

UK is no longer safe for us Indians. For a long time, the UK was the dream destination for Indians moving abroad, and for many, it still is.But we rarely talk about how we actually get treated there.

The post questioned the treatment of Indians abroad, pointing to anti-immigration rallies in Australia, attacks on Indians in Ireland and online hostility towards Indians in the US.
The user also urged Indian parents planning to send their children abroad to consider the challenges they might face, arguing that education and professional success did not always protect people from prejudice.
