The story so far: Anthropic’s reported plan to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) consultancy in Europe with private equity firm Hg has brought a new dimension to the competition between AI developers and traditional technology services companies.

The two companies had agreed to establish an independent consultancy, expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, with hubs in London and Berlin. It is expected to place AI consultants and engineers inside businesses to develop AI-powered products and support adoption. The report said it would also serve companies in Hg’s investment portfolio.
