Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: The inspiration for this book began after I published my research paper in IEEE Xplore during my final year of college. That experience opened my eyes to India’s growing global impact in tech and research. I realized how many remarkable stories, from ancient mathematics to modern AI, were waiting to be told. After graduation, I felt driven to document this transformation and show how India is stepping forward as a leader in the digital era.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: From Chandrayaan to ChatGPT: India’s Journey to a Tech Future is a comprehensive look at India’s evolution in technology. The book covers everything from the invention of zero to breakthroughs in AI, space, and digital infrastructure. It blends real-life stories, case studies, and accessible technical explanations. At its heart is India’s unique spirit of jugaad—creative innovation that delivers world-class solutions, even with limited resources. Readers will learn how Indian innovators are using technology to solve real problems and why our country is increasingly shaping the global digital landscape.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title, From Chandrayaan to ChatGPT: India’s Journey to a Tech Future, represents the extraordinary range of India’s innovations. “Chandrayaan” highlights our achievements in space exploration and our ambition in science. “ChatGPT” symbolizes the emergence of generative AI and intelligent language technologies—areas where India is rapidly advancing, creating its own models, and contributing to global AI solutions. The title captures India’s journey from ancient wisdom to shaping the very frontiers of technology.

Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A: Writing this book was a journey of discovery. I learned about a wide range of Indian startups and tech leaders who are tackling complex, real-world challenges with creative solutions and bold thinking. Their drive to make an impact with technology made me even prouder to be Indian. I also realised that real progress in this field comes from blending research, policy, and entrepreneurship.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: This book took about one and a half years from idea to completion. I began writing after my graduation, dedicating a year to writing and the remaining months to refining, researching, and shaping the manuscript. The process required dedication, curiosity, and a lot of learning along the way.

Q: How Important Is Research To You When Writing A Book?

A: Research is the foundation of my writing. I rely on a mix of academic knowledge, research papers, books, trusted online sources, AI tools, and public interviews with tech experts. Staying updated with the latest developments—and understanding the people and ideas behind those breakthroughs—was essential to making the book rich, accurate, and engaging.
