The sorry state of affairs of New York’s subway has once again come to light as severe storms unleashed major flooding across the NYC, prompting people to find creative ways to head back home.
Heavy rain and flash flood across the US East Coast on Thursday led New York City and New Jersey to declare states of emergency.
Streets looked like rivers, subways filled with water, cars got stuck, and public transport stopped working as the storm hit big cities from New York to Washington, DC. The situation worsened to the extent that the authorities issued urgent warnings to the residents not to travel and stay indoors.
In a video shared by Fox News, people were seen hanging on the grills of the New York subway, finding their way back home as heavy rains caused flooding in the station.

Internet users expressed shock over the state of the subway in one of the richest cities of the world.
“Looks like NYC’s infrastructure is as flooded as the streets. Time to wade in some change,” a user wrote on X.
“New York City commuters now need a canoe just to get to work. The subways are underwater. The streets are rivers. And the infrastructure? It’s as broken as the promises to fix it,” another pointed out.
