Delhi Red Fort Blast Live Updates: CM Rekha Gupta, Minister Ashish Sood Meet Victims At Lok Nayak Hospital
Delhi Red Fort Blast Live Updates: A high-intensity explosion rocked a car parked near the Red Fort on Monday evening, setting multiple vehicles ablaze and shattering nearby window panes.
Several people are feared to have been injured in the powerful blast, officials said.
Police sounded a high alert in Delhi. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot with police cordoning off the area, the Delhi Fire Services said.
Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital stated that 15 people were brought in severe condition, of which eight were declared dead.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation. A call reporting the blast was received around 6:55 pm, following which fire services and investigative agencies rushed to the scene. Later, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) reached the site after intelligence inputs suggested the explosion was linked to a terror-related plot.
The incident took place just hours after police uncovered an interstate terror module allegedly connected to banned organisations and seized over 2,900 kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate, including 360 kg recovered earlier and another 2,500 kg found later.
