About the Author:

Dr. Prabhakar Shankar – A warrior in spirit, a healer in soul, a poet by purpose. Dr. Prabhakar Shankar is not just a clinical professional. He is a therapist of the human condition. A healer of bodies, a mender of spirits, and a voice for the voiceless, his journey from hardship to hope is nothing short of extraordinary. His life took a pivotal turn when he was enlightened with technical and management skills under the lights of IIT Patna. Within the corridors of one of India’s most prestigious institutions, his intellect was sharpened and a deeper purpose awakened. It was here that clinical knowledge met strategic vision, empowering him to lead and shape the evolving world of digital health, where knowledge met clarity, ambition met soul, and vision found its voice. Born in the margins of silence, shaped by hardship, and raised by resilience, Dr. Shankar turned adversity into his greatest teacher. He rose from the ashes of rejection and silence with one mission to heal through science, through strength, and through story. He is an internationally acclaimed gold medallist in martial arts, a respected corporate mentor who has transformed thousands of lives, and a passionate healthcare professional who has stood beside countless patients in their most fragile hours. But his deepest healing power comes through his pen. In his writing, Dr. Prabhakar Shankar does not merely reflect, he reveals. His poetry is raw, unfiltered, and redemptive, pulling truth from trauma and beauty from brokenness. His verses are not written for applause, but for awakening for those fighting unseen wars, carrying invisible grief, and searching for light in quiet corners. His debut poetic memoir, When Breath Becomes Verse, has been hailed as a literary lifeline, a work that speaks to the human soul, echoing themes of faith, failure, love, resilience, and the sacred act of rising again. Today, Dr. Prabhakar Shankar leads a life of profound impact, touching patients through digital health, mentoring in boardrooms, and writing from the soul. Whether he’s guiding people towards wholeness, shaping young minds with purpose and discipline and soothing silent wounds through verse, one truth remains. His life is his message and every act, a reflection of resilience turned into grace. He doesn’t just treat wounds; he transforms them into wisdom. A modern-day mystic in a white coat, Dr. Prabhakar Shankar reminds the world that the greatest stories are written not in ink, but in scars, and the strongest voices rise from silence.

Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: I was inspired by the relentless trials life placed before me, years drenched in silence, scarred by trauma, weighed down by rejection, and shadowed by fear. I carried wounds no one could see and questions no one could answer. In the midst of it all, writing became more than a refuge; it became my altar of faith, my cry for redemption, and my way of reclaiming a voice I thought I’d lost forever. Each line in this book is a breath I fought for, a moment of pain I turned into purpose. This isn’t merely a memoir; it is the voice of a soul that refused to be silenced, and the testimony of a heart that chose to heal through verse.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: When Breath Becomes Verse is a deeply personal poetic memoir composed entirely in quatrains. Spanning over 3,000 lines, it traces my journey through childhood trauma, physical disability, and societal rejection, leading to spiritual awakening, love, heartbreak, and ultimately, emotional resurrection. It is the story of a soul once broken and crawling, learning not just to walk, but to rise with grace and purpose, with every line echoing the heartbeat of survival, carried by faith and carved into poetry.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title reflects how poetry became my breath. When I could not speak, I wrote. Each verse became a breath drawn from silence. Life tried to silence me, but poetry helped me breathe again.

Q: What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A: I learned that scars can bleed into verse, and even the deepest wounds can begin to heal when poured into words. I also discovered that letting the soul speak its truth is not a weakness, it is a quiet, unwavering strength that transforms pain into poetry.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: This particular book took me years to live but about three to four months to write. Emotionally, however, it felt like I had been writing it my entire life.

Q: Do You Have Any Suggestions To Help Others To Become A Better Writer? If So, What Are They?

A: Write with honesty. Don’t write to impress, write to heal and liberate, and let your truth set others free. Your story matters, especially when it’s painful. Don’t cover it in sweetness; let it stand in its raw, unfiltered power. Truth is the most beautiful form of expression.

Q: Do You Try More To Be Original Or To Deliver To Readers What They Want?

A: I believe originality comes from truth. I do not write to meet popular demand. I write what needs to be said, and I trust that truth will always find its readers.

Q: What Is The Most Difficult Part About Writing For You?

A: Reliving the truth exactly as it was raw, painful, and real was the hardest part. But doing so in a poetic and lyrical form, while maintaining the rhythm, rhyme, and emotional honesty, added another layer of difficulty. Every verse had to carry both beauty and truth, and balancing the two stood as the true challenge.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: To me, success isn’t defined by fame or sales. It’s knowing that my words touched someone’s soul and offered light, healing, or understanding when they needed it most. If even one reader feels seen, comforted, or transformed through my verse, then that is the only measure of success that truly matters.

Q: Where Do You Get Your Greatest Ideas For Writing?

A: My greatest ideas come from pain, silence, faith, and dreams. They often rise when I’m at my lowest, drowning in failure, burdened by life’s weight, and searching for light in the darkness. It is in those moments of quiet desperation that my most honest and powerful words are born.
