“I think I could have scored at least three goals but I am happy to have helped the team win,” Guirassy said following his side’s victory.
Dortmund are slated to take on Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid in the quarterfinal of the event at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on the 6th of July, with a place in the semis of the revamped tournament up for grabs.
“I expect a very tough game. Real Madrid want to go through so it will be a tough game but we will be prepared.”
Guirassy opened the scoring for his side in the 14th minute of the game before doubling their advantage ten minutes laster with his second of the day. The goal also took his tally to 37 goals this season.

Dortmund’s Yan Couto noted the striker’s form and opined that the 29-year-old striker is up there at the top of the pecking order in terms of strikers going around the circuit.
“Guirassy is one of the best strikers in the world. Today he scored two goals and he made the victory,” Couto remarked following his side’s triumph on the day.
Monterrey cut the deficit in half through Berterame early in the second half of the game, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation at the end of the game as Sergio Ramos put his header just wide of the post deep into second half stoppage time.
“The crowd and our fans and the people who understand about football, they saw that the team gave everything,” Ramos said following the defeat.
“Our supporters, I think they are proud of how we defended the shirt, and we have to continue moving forward,” the former Real Madid skipper added.
