Exclusive interview with the author

Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A: I had been mulling over writing a book on a particular topic, like most books. But then an idea struck me wherein I decided to incorporate all the topics of interest & perspectives I’ve come across while reading books or online and compile them all into one book. In essence, I wanted to write a “book of books” where it wasn’t confined to just one topic but where I was able to put across several ideas & thought-provoking perspectives all stitched together. The inspiration for the book was to provide different perspectives that would impact readers & where they could find answers to several existential questions & just make for an interesting and compelling read. So yes, I wanted to do something different & stride several topics & ideas with this book which could fuel the hunger for knowledge & serve as a blueprint for how to live more intentionally and mindfully in these fast-paced 2020s & beyond.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: This book is a compilation of several broad ideas and perspectives that answer the big existentialist questions while providing a roadmap for how to live more intentionally & thoughtfully or otherwise just providing food for thought for readers. In exploring the perspectives shared by prominent thinkers & books and works written by them both past & present & adding my own analysis and take on them, I aimed to fit in a collection of ideas that would make for an intriguing & impactful read that’s both philosophical and relevant. The book navigates the winding paths of self-discovery, self-improvement, resilience, growth, and understanding while providing fresh takes & perspectives that can help readers navigate through life’s ebbs & flows more thoughtfully & purposefully. My book Make Your Own Waves is a culmination of 45 thought-provoking ideas that can hopefully help propel readers’ lives in a new direction.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title of this book “Make Your Own Waves” is to urge readers to forge their own path through life, by charting their own way of living as authentically as possible and staying true to themselves & their innate passions and desires. It’s to take the road less taken, to find your way & carve out your own path that resonates with you. It’s a reminder that “there is no right path except your own” & that you can create a life of meaning by channeling your authenticity to essentially make an impact & stride through life by making your own waves. This book enables that shift in thinking to “Make Your Own Waves” or make your own moves in life.

Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A: I’ve written 3 books totally up until present day. My first two books were poetry books where I shared my perspective in poetic verses. My debut poetry book ‘The Indian Night’ that released in 2022 comprises of all the poetry I’d written over the years from 2016-2022 while my second book ‘Interludes To The Indian Buddha’ was my take on beat poetry of the 21st century electronic music generation that drew inspiration from beat poetry of the 1950s and 60s that was propelled by jazz music. However, despite my first book holding a special place for me, this book “Make Your Own Waves” is definitely my favourite because I’ve managed to put across all the points & ideas I wanted to & because it’s my first full-length book that isn’t poetry.

Q: What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: Success has become a buzzword for accumulating wealth in today’s times. But there’s a world of things out there to be successful in. As I’ve explored in my book as well, success can be found in anything that you wish to be successful in. You need to define your own idea of success with a clear heart & on your own terms. Leading a fulfilling life by staying as authentic as possible in a world designed to make you conform is a success in itself. So create your own definiton of success & pursue it & stay as true to yourself & your path as possible.

Q: What Are Your Top 3 Books?

A: Ah, there are so many to choose from. But I’ll go with a couple of fiction books & one self-help book. So my top 3 books are surely Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, Angels & Demons by Dan Brown & Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen.
