‘Had Fever, Was In My Room’: Here’s What Radhika Yadav’s Mother Said To Cops

As probe intensifies into the killing of national-level Tennis player Radhika Yadav at her house by her father, it has come to light that her mother, Manju Yadav, was reportedly resting in her room and unaware of what had transpired.
The 25-year-old tennis player was shot dead by her father Deepak Yadav when she was in the kitchen preparing food for them on July 10. The same day also marked her mother’s birthday. In a sweet gesture, Radhika had stepped inside kitchen to cook something special for her mother as she was not keeping well due to fever.
The killing took place at around 10:30 am on the first floor of their residence in Gurugram’s Sector 57. The tennis player died after her 49-year-old father shot her three times from behind.
Media reports, citing police, suggested that only Radhika, her mother, and father were present on the first floor of the house at the time of the murder.
In her statement to police, Manju Yadav said she was lying in her room at the time of the murder as she was suffering from fever and only heard the gunshots. She claimed ignorance of what led to the killing and refused of being aware of any serious dispute between her husband and daughter. She added that Radhika had a good character and had never brought disgrace to the family.
Further, Radhika had once played tennis at the national level and had clenched several trophies. However, due a shoulder injury sustained during a match, she had stopped playing and instead started a tennis academy, where she coached children.
According to multiple media reports, the accused father fired five bullets at his daughter, three of which struck her in the back. Thereafter, she was rushed to Asia Maringo Hospital by her uncle Kuldeep Yadav and cousin but was declared dead on arrival.
Radhika Yadav Murder: Accused Father Confesses Crime
The accused allegedly confessed to the police that he killed his daughter after being deeply disturbed by villagers’ taunts that he was surviving off her income.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Deepak told the police that the taunts he received had wounded his pride, and he had been struggling with depression for the past two weeks.
Several media reports quoted him as saying that some even questioned his daughter’s character, which he claimed further aggravated his anger. Deepak had reportedly asked Radhika multiple times to shut down the tennis academy she ran, but she had refused.
According to the FIR filed on the complaint of her uncle Kuldeep Yadav, the father was enraged by her decision to continue the academy despite his repeated objections.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the sports community and raised concerns over societal pressures, gender norms, and the tragic consequences of patriarchal mindsets. Further investigations into the case is underway.
