79th Independence Day Celebrations Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 79th Independence Day and laid out a roadmap for the future and a warning to those who challenge India’s sovereignty. He made several announcements while giving his 12th speech from the Red Fort. From tenfold nuclear expansion to a Rs 1 lakh crore youth employment push, PM Modi stressed on making India ‘Aatmanirbhar‘.

PM Modi led the celebrations from the historic Red Fort, where he unfurled the National Flag and addressed the nation. Flying Officer Rashika Sharma assisted in hoisting the Tricolour.

This year’s celebrations at Red Fort was attended by about 5,000 special guests drawn from various walks of life across the country. It included members of the Indian contingent for the Special Olympics 2025, winners of international sporting events, 50 better-performing Swachhta workers of the Swachhta Campaign, tribal children from native communities of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, among others.
