The trend is being credited to Hussein Vally, a singer from Johannesburg, South Africa. He posted a video of him singing this comical rendition of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai on Facebook in July 2022.

After Moye Moye, a new song is inspiring all types of memes on social media. This time the song is Inky Pinky Ponky, a nursery rhyme sung to the tune of the 1998 hit song Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. People are using this audio to depict a scenario in which they are on the suffering end or facing the consequences of their ill-thought-out actions. For instance, a person used this audio to jokingly mention how their brain blanks out as they are trying to study for an exam or struggling to do simple tasks like opening a can of soda after getting long nail extensions. So far this audio has over 25,000 reels on Instagram.

Most recently, cricketer Shikar Dhawan also posted an Instagram reel on this audio. In the clip, captioned as ‘Brain not braining’, Dhawan is playing the harmonium and singing the lyrics with over-the-top expressions. Dhawan’s reel has over 20 lakh likes since it was posted on December 13.

According to India Today, this trend is being credited to Hussein Vally, a singer from Johannesburg, South Africa. He posted a video of him singing this nursery rhyme on the tune of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai on Facebook in July 2022. He also slightly changed the rhyme’s lyrics to better match the original song. The lyrics of the viral audio are: “Inky pinky ponky, daddy bought a donkey. Donkey died, daddy cried, inky pinky ponky. Daddy said to mommy, longing for my donkey, Kya karun hay, dukh-dukh hota hai.”

This is not the only unexpected audio clip that went viral this year. Back in October, Jasmeen Kaur, a women’s clothing store owner from Delhi posted a video in which she was advertising clothes from her store. She enthusiastically described a suit set as “Just looking like a wow”. This term caught up and people began using it as a compliment or to show off their make-up looks or outfits.

This meme finally cemented itself as a viral trend after popular composer Yashraj Mukhate sampled Kaur’s audio in a jingle. So far this video has over 18 lakh likes.

The trend got the biggest celebrity endorsement when actor Deepika Padukone posted a clip on her Instagram feed in which she mimics the phrase “Just looking like a wow” while looking straight in the camera.
