IPL 2024 Orange Cap and Purple Cap Race: Virat Kohli maintains his lead at the top of the run-scoring charts after scoring 70 while Mustafizur Rahman as the joint-most wickets in the tournament so far.

In the double-header on Sunday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru got their second consecutive victory by beating Gujart Titans by nine wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium followed by Chennai Super Kings beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Virat Kohli has established more of a gap at the top of the run-scoring charts scoring a fine half-century against GT to help RCB get the emphatic win with Will Jacks scoring a blistering ton to crush the Titans at their home ground.

For Chennai Super Kings, it was a dominant bowling performance which started with Tushar Deshpande clearing out the top-three batters of the explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad’s explosive batting unit which paved the way for CSK to get back to winning ways. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on his second consecutive ton by just two runs to lead the batting in the first innings.

Virat Kohli: The RCB ace continues to showcase his consistency with the bat as he contributed 70 runs in a winning cause for his side to secure their second win on the bounce. He also becomes the first batter to hit the 500-run mark for the season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad: The CSK skipper continues his fine form with the bat as he scored 98 runs and just missed out on his second consecutive century. He now has jumped to second in the run-scoring charts by helping CSK with the brilliant knock in 54 balls.

Sai Sudharshan: The young left-hander has been outstanding for the Titans as he contributed yet another half-century scoring 84 in 49 balls, stabilising the innings following both the opener’s early departure. He continues to be reliable with the bat for GT and will hope to see him score more runs for the side in their quest to the playoffs.

Sanju Samson: The RR skipper has showcased his class under pressure as he set up Rajasthan Royals’ previous win with an unbeaten knock of 71 in just 33 deliveries. He continues to showcase his prowess with the bat and lead the Royals as they continue their winning ways.

KL Rahul: The Lucknow Super Giants captain has been in good touch with the bat and he contributed with a valuable knock of 76 in 48 balls to help his side set a decent score on the board. He will be expected to continue scoring the big runs from the top of the order if his side is to have a chance of making it to the playoffs.

Jasprit Bumrah: MI’s standout bowler for the season had reclaimed the top spot in the wicket-taking charts after picking up the lone wicket in their previous game. Despite the side having a difficult tournament, he continues to be the shining light with his outstanding performances throughout the season.

Mustafizur Rahman: The Bangladeshi pacer has stormed back up among the top wicket-takers in the season following his two scalps for just 19 runs in 2.5 overs. He continues to be an essential cog in the Chennai Super Kings’ bowling attack with a tally of 14 wickets, levelling with Bumrah.

Harshal Patel: Despite Punjab Kings having a tough run in the ongoing season, Harshal Patel continues to show his wicket-taking abilities by picking the lone wicket in their previous game. Despite going for runs regularly, PBKS will look to rely on the pacer for his wicket-taking prowess as the tournament continues.

Matheesha Pathirana: The slinger from Sri Lanka has been part of a fully firing Chennai Super Kings bowling attack and now finds himself just below the leading wicket-taker despite playing significantly fewer games. His ability to take wickets through the middle and death overs will be an essential part of the defending champions’ season to come.

T Natarajan: The left-arm pacer has been vital for the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fine run in the tournament so far. In their recent game, he picked up just the one wicket but now finds himself at the fifth position in the wicket-taking charts and the side will look to see the pacer continue to deliver being able to bowl in all three phases of the bowling innings.
