NorthEast United FC sign Mohammed Arshaf (NEUFC)
NorthEast United FC announced the signing of young midfielder Mohammed Arshaf on a long-term deal that will keep him with the Indian Super League (ISL) club until the end of the 2027 season.
Arshaf, 20, joins the club from Super League Kerala 2024 champions Calicut Football Club. In Super League Kerala, he had the most number of tackles (53 tackles) and was named the Emerging Player of the Tournament.
The dynamic midfielder was an integral part of the Kerala state team that reached the final of the 2024 Santosh Trophy and Arshaf was in the starting XI for the final. Arshaf started his football journey in his school days and honed his skills at Parappur FC. He has also participated in the Reliance Foundation Developmental League.
“I am incredibly honoured and excited to join NorthEast United Football Club. This is a momentous achievement for me, having long admired the club’s standing in Indian football. I am eager to contribute to the team’s success,” Arshaf said.
“(Naushad) Moosa coach spoke to me about the club’s plans and vision for me, which gave me a lot of confidence and clarity. It convinced me that NorthEast United FC was the right choice for me,” Arshaf expressed before adding that he also spoke with senior team players like Mirshad Michu, Jithin MS and Mayakkannan, who only spoke positively about the club and that helped him make his decision.
“Arshaf is an excellent young midfielder, who we scouted in the Santosh Trophy. He will bring that freshness to the midfield, and we are delighted to have him here at NorthEast United FC. We cannot wait to see what he brings to the field,” NorthEast United FC’s head coach Juan Pedro Benali said.
