At least 30 killed in Gaza after Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire deal brokered by Donald Trump, with hostage exchanges, aid promises, and Trump set to visit Egypt
Gaza’s Civil Defense said that an Israeli strike on the Ghaboun family home late Thursday in northern Gaza’s Al-Sabra neighborhood trapped more than 40 Palestinians under the rubble.
At least 30 people were killed in Gaza in Israel attack since Israel and Hamas signed the ceasefire deal, according to Palestinian health department.
CNN quoted Gaza’s Civil Defense as stating that an Israeli strike on the Ghaboun family home late Thursday in northern Gaza’s Al-Sabra neighborhood trapped more than 40 Palestinians under the rubble.
Dr Mohammed Abu Salmiya, the director of the local Al-Shifa Hospital, said at least six people were killed in the attack and a total of 30 Palestinians died since Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces said it “struck a Hamas terrorist cell” in northern Gaza that was “operating in close proximity to IDF troops” and “posed an immediate threat.”
Israel and Hamas on Thursday agreed to a ceasefire deal to free hostages held in Gaza in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, as part of the first phase of a “peace deal” brokered by US President Donald Trump.
Hamas is expected to release the 20 living hostages together, 72 hours after the ceasefire begins.
The Gaza peace deal aims to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas. It includes the release of 47 hostages held by Hamas in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
The agreement also ensures a daily supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the phased return of displaced residents. Israeli troops will gradually withdraw with international guarantees reportedly supported by Trump. The ceasefire is expected to come into effect soon after Israeli cabinet approval.
American envoy Steve Witkoff said Trump will travel to Egypt next week after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi extended an invitation to attend celebrations over the Gaza ceasefire deal.
