Israeli Military Announces Daily 10-Hour Humanitarian Pauses In Dense Areas Of Gaza Strip

The IDF has announced a daily 10-hour ‘tactical pause of military activities’ in some areas of Gaza Strip for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli Defence Forces announced a “tactical pause of military activity” in densely populated areas of the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, Times of Israel reported on Sunday.
The pause will remain in effect daily from 10 am to 8 pm.
The military clarified that the pause will come into effect in areas where the IDF is currently not operating with ground troops, including al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City, “every day until further notice”.
“The move is being carried out in accordance with directives from the political echelon, and as part of the IDF’s ongoing effort, led by COGAT, to increase the scope of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip. This decision was coordinated with the UN and international organizations following discussions regarding the matter,” the IDF said.
The military said that “secure routes” will be designated starting 6 am to 11 pm “to enable the safe passage of UN and humanitarian aid organization convoys delivering and distributing food and medicine to the population across the Gaza Strip”.
“The IDF will continue to support humanitarian efforts alongside ongoing maneuvering and offensive operations against terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, in order to protect Israeli civilians. The IDF is prepared to expand the scale of this activity as required,” the military said.
On Saturday night, the Israeli Air Force carried out its first airdrop of aid, following orders from the country’s leaders. They dropped seven pallets of flour, sugar, and canned food supplied by international groups, Ynetnews reported.
While other countries had done airdrops before, this was Israel’s first. As part of the effort, the Israeli military also worked with COGAT to connect a power line to a desalination plant in southern Gaza. This boosted the plant’s water output from 2,000 to 20,000 cubic meters a day, helping about 900,000 people.
