Kapil Sharma remembers his father.
Kapil Sharma recalled his late father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, in a recent interview. The comedian’s father was a head constable in the Punjab Police and passed away in 2004 after a seven-year-long battle with cancer.
Recently, Kapil Sharma appeared on a podcast when he recalled his childhood days. He mentioned that they never used to go out for family outings since his father was always busy. Kapil called the police force a “thankless” job and revealed that this is why he decided to do something which he enjoys.
“I have seen my father working so hard. And the Police force is such a thankless job. We barely went out as a family, neither have we celebrated festivals because he wouldn’t have any offs for us. It has been in Mumbai, where I saw that we have family dinners, weekends and all. So I realised that I would do something that makes me enjoy my job. I need to be passionate about it. And talking about focus, I had no other choice. My dad had a government job and getting one such job is difficult,” Kapil said, as quoted by ETimes.
Kapil Sharma further revealed that it was his father who saw an artist in him. He expressed gratitude towards his late dad and recalled how he used to encourage him to take part in singing activities even during school.
“My dream of becoming an artist wasn’t just mine. It was my father’s dream that I made it come true. When he came to my first theatre play, he showed me some pictures of him where he revealed that he even used to do theatre plays as well and I had no idea about it. Whenever I would tell him about my plays and group songs, he would get really happy. He never told me about it but then when he shared about it I feel, it’s their dreams that I have fulfilled,” he added.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kapil Sharma is soon returning with the third season of his Netflix show – The Great Indian Kapil Show. Besides this, he has also been shooting for the sequel to his movie, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon.
