M.H.Sofia Talks About Her Book “The Fugitives”

Despite juggling school commitments and exams, Sofia dedicated long holidays to her creative endeavor. In two years, she completed her first novel, a remarkable feat showcasing her determination and love for storytelling. Q: What Inspired You To Write This Book?

A:My eagerness that makes me to do something that is out of my capability, inspired me to start writing a book.

Q:What Did You Learn When Writing The Book?

A:This might seem funny to you. When writing this book, I learnt how to write and how not to write one.

Q: Can You Tell Us About The Book?

A: The book is about a group of 5 friends who despite of the challenges that come up their way, find a solution to lead them and the world out of destruction.

Q: What Does The Title Mean?

A: The title means ‘the escapers’, who can escape, handle and manoeuvre any situation no matter its difficulty level. I named the book so because I wanted to let the readers know that every difficult situation in life holds a hidden key to unlock the door that leads us out of it and it is ourselves who will have to find that key.

Q: How Long Does It Take You To Write A Book?

A: This book took me 2 years because I had to write the story only in my limited time between my school activities and exams. I hope it doesn’t take this long for the next book.

Q: How Many Books Have You Written? Which Is Your Favourite?

A: I have written one book till now and I hope to write more. As for everyone, my first book would be my favourite.

Q:Do You Have Any Suggestions To Help Others To Become A Better Writer? If So, What Are They?

A: One suggestion is to envision your writing as a scene in a movie or an animated sequence. You can then describe the visuals, sounds, and emotions as if you were directing a cinematic experience. This can add vividness to your descriptions.

Q:What, In Your Opinion, Are The Most Important Elements Of Good Writing?

A: In my opinion, imagination and bringing in emotions are the most important elements of a good writing.

Q:What Does Success Mean To You? What Is The Definition Of Success?

A: According to me, ‘Success is not the destination. It is the journey influenced by passion and perseverance propelling us to become the best versions of ourselves.’

Q: Tell Us About Your First Published Book? What Was The Journey Like?

A:I never thought I would say this. But it was a ‘tiresome’ journey. I first wrote my book like a script for a play. But I found the content too small. So, then I had to write more and more and more and more until I was satiated. Then I realized it would be even more better if I wrote the script like a story and henceforth I reworked in converting the ‘scripty dialogues’ into a ‘rivery story’. It therefore took me almost 2 complete solar years to finish and furnish my story.

Q: Do You Believe A Book Cover Plays An Important Role In The Selling Process?

A: Definitely. It serves the purpose of the first impression. A good book cover is one that attracts people to buy that book. But a perfect book cover is one that expresses the story and makes people to read that book.
