Manchester United’s trip to the Emirates felt like a slice of heaven. The aftermath? A brutal fall back to earth.
According to reports from The Athletic, the Red Devils have been rocked by a major injury blow, with Patrick Dorgu set to miss up to 10 weeks after scans confirmed a torn hamstring.
The 21-year-old endured a whirlwind afternoon in Sunday’s win over Arsenal. He lit up north London with a thunderous long-range opener, only to see his day cut short barely half an hour later.
Dorgu pulled up while chasing a loose ball, immediately clutching his hamstring before collapsing to the turf. He was forced off and replaced by Benjamin Sesko, limping away with visible discomfort.
Initial assessments suggested cramp, a view echoed by interim boss Michael Carrick after the match.
But further scans have painted a far grimmer picture. What was first downplayed is now expected to sideline Dorgu until early April, dealing a hammer blow to United’s revival.
The timing could hardly be worse. Carrick has sparked fresh belief at Old Trafford, with Dorgu emerging as a key figure on the left flank during United’s recent uptick in form.
After leaving the stadium, Dorgu himself hinted at uncertainty. Asked about the injury, he simply said: “We’ll see.”
United sources are yet to officially confirm a definitive return date, insisting the situation remains under assessment.
