Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Father on Sonam Raghuvanshi, who has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya during their honeymoon, has denied her daughter’s role in the murder and has demanded a CBI probe in the case.
Sonam Raghuvanshi was traced and arrested in Uttar Pradesh Ghazipur on Monday morning after thorough search after Raja’s semi-decomposed body was found at the bottom of the gorge near the Weisawdong Falls parking area at Riat Arliang.
My Daughter Is Innocent, Says Sonam’s Father
After Sonam’s arrest, her father, Devi Singh categorically rejected the police’s claims that she allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband.
“…My daughter is innocent. I have trust in my daughter. She cannot do this (kill her husband)… They got married with the consent of both families,” he said.
He claimed the Sonam reached a roadside eatery in Ghazipur and was continuously crying. She had called from there and had informed her about her location.

“My daughter came to a dhaba in Ghazipur last night and she called her brother…Police went to the dhaba, and she was taken from there. I have not been able to speak to my daughter. ” he said.
He further alleged that the Meghalaya Police has build up a narrative amid the ongoing investigation to trap his daughter.
“Why will my daughter do such a thing (kill her husband)? The Meghalaya Police is lying. My daughter reached Ghazipur on her own. She was not arrested in Meghalaya,” he added.
Claiming that his daughter is innocent, he urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI probe in the entire case.
“We were thinking of meeting Madhya Pradesh CM and then Union HM Amit Shah to request a CBI inquiry. Meghalaya Police is making up stories. Let the CBI inquiry begin, all officers at the police station (in Meghalaya) will be behind bars,” he added.
We Lost Raja, Says Sonam’s Mother
Meanwhile, Sonam’s mother expressed relief that her daughter was found after days of thorough search but expressed sorrow over the death of Raja.
“We are thankful that she has been found, but the pain still remains… Now we want to know who was behind Raja’s murder. There’s sorrow even though she has returned, we lost Raja…” she said.

Sonam Raghuvanshi Held After Days Of Search
In major breakthrough in the investigation of the Meghalaya honeymoon tragedy, where Raja Raghuvanshi was found dead in a gorge, Sonam was traced and arrested in Ghazipur.
According to Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang, Raja was allegedly killed by men hired by his wife during their honeymoon trip.
