Neeraj Chopra Finishes Second in Diamond League 2024 Final in Brussels – News18
Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Diamond League 2024 Final in Brussels on Sunday with a best attempt of 87.86m on the day, behind Anderson Peters of Granada’s effort of 87.87m.
Neeraj missed out on the crown by the smallest of margins as Peters pipped the Indian to the top spot in the Belgian Capital city.
Peters opened with his best throw on the first attempt and maintained the pole position throughout the event to clinch the coveted piece of silverware.

Chopra began proceeding with a strong attempt of 86.82m to come in second at the end of round one of the throws. He returned with his second attempt of 83.49m but hit his best attempt of the evening with his third attempt.
The 26-year-old looked to breach the mark set by Peters with three attempts remaining, however, he came up with attempts of 82.04m, 83.30m and 86.46m to conclude the evening.
This marks the second time Neeraj has finished as a runner-up in the final of the Diamond League, following his performance in the summit event last year. He had previously finished top in the final of the 2022 edition of the league.
German Julian Weber finished third with a best throw of 85.97m, which came on his opening attempt, ahead of fourth-placed Adrian Mardare who registered a throw of 82.97m, also on his opening effort.
Japanese thrower Genki Rodrick Dean finished fifth with a best throw that barely breached the 80m mark with an effort of 80.37m on his fourth attempt, which was sandwiched by sub-eighty efforts.
Ukrainian Arthur Felfner came in sixth with a furthest throw of 79.86m on his penultimate attempt and had two foul throws and three other attempts below the 80m mark.
Belgian home hope Timothy Herman finished at the bottom of the pile with his best attempt of 76.46m coming on his final throw after his previous attempt was flagged for a foul.
