After several reels of police personnel in the uniform went viral on the social media, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda issued a circular warning the police officers of a disciplinary action.
In the circular issued, Dayananda stressed that the image of the police department will be at a stake if the police officials make social media reels not related to their job. He also highlighted that the police department is known for discipline and commitment and such acts will only bring them down among the public.
“Uniform represents discipline, commitment, and dedication. Creating social media reels about unrelated topics will damage the image of the department. Uploading reels/photos in a uniform is also a violation of department’s rule”, said Bengaluru Commissioner B Dayananda.
“From constables to senior officers, there are thousands of fan pages, and even that has to be curtailed where these police personnel are being portrayed as demigods”, he added.
According to the circular, Bengaluru Police’s social media wing has also been directed to closely monitor social media for such videos and activities and report to seniors for necessary action.
